The Everyday Guide

Privacy Policy

This page explains, in plain language, what information this site collects and what we do with it. If anything here changes, this page will be updated and the date above will change with it.

The short version

We collect as little as possible. We do not sell personal data. We do not ask for your name, address, or payment details. The main things that may be recorded are the standard, anonymous technical details every website sees (such as browser type and rough location from an IP address), and anything you choose to send us through the Contact page.

Information you send us

If you email us, we receive whatever you include in that message — typically your email address and the content of your message. We use it only to reply to you and, where relevant, to correct a guide. We do not add your email to any marketing list, because we do not run one. We do not share your messages with anyone else.

Please do not include passwords, account numbers, or other sensitive personal details in messages to us. We will never ask for them.

Comments

This site has no comments section, so it collects no comment data.

Cookies and analytics

This site may use a small number of cookies: ones that keep the site working (for example, remembering basic preferences), and, if analytics are enabled, ones that count visits in aggregate so we can see which guides are useful. Analytics, if used, shows overall patterns — which pages are visited and roughly where visitors come from — not who individual visitors are.

If you are in the UK or EU, you will see a cookie banner on your first visit; your choice is remembered on your device.

Advertising

This site may show advertisements served by an advertising partner. Ad partners commonly use cookies to show ads that are relevant to the page being read, and to measure how ads perform. Those cookies are set by the ad partner, not by us, and their use is governed by the ad partner's own privacy policy. Some advertising partners may use cookies to show personalised ads based on pages you have visited; you can limit this through your browser and device advertising settings. No advertising partner is named here yet, because no partner is currently running ads on this site — the partner’s name and privacy policy link will be added here on the day one is added.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking third-party cookies entirely. Blocking cookies may affect how some parts of the site behave, but reading guides will still work.

Data security and retention

Messages sent to us are kept only as long as needed to deal with them. We do not maintain a user database, membership system, or mailing list, so there is very little personal data to retain in the first place. If you would like a message you sent us deleted, email us about it and we will delete it.

Children's privacy

This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we ask that children do not send us messages or personal details.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
